The Phoenix Project is a book that tells a story about DevOps. This is an easy read as it is delivered as a story. As with any good story, context is set, tensions described, critical points hit, and resolution delivered.

Lean principles and the concepts of DevOps can be hard to understand for many that have been in the IT field for a long time or for those that are not in IT. This book puts them in context of a story, and the hero progresses from line manager to CIO with an eye on CEO - so a happy ending.

For me, the story gave good context to why, what, and how, but the greatest value was found in reading the appendixes. I would encourage anyone in IT and focused on cloud-based technology to read this book. If not, at least consider visiting the dev2ops and Lean websites on the Internet.
